Chris Farris is responsible for Cloud Security for Turner Broadcasting's digital, corporate and broadcast cloud footprint. OVERVIEW


On Saturday, November 3rd, Pitney Bowes, RCG Global Services and TAG (the Technology Association of Georgia) will kick off a 1 week competition to develop creative and inventive solutions to a set of FinServ/FinTech business problems leveraging the provided Pitney Bowes market leading location intelligence and data visualization tools.

A three-hour orientation meeting will be held to provide information on the Pitney Bowes data sets and tools, a briefing on the core business problems, past and present attempts to solve them, and a question and answer session.
  

Teams will be provided access to the Pitney Bowes data sets, data visualization tools and a set of FinTech/FinServ business problems to be solved on November 3rd (Team leaders must be present).

One week later, on Friday, November 9, a 24-hour full service workshop will be hosted by Pitney Bowes and RCG Global industry experts who will be available during the entire period.  The last two hours will be allocated for the teams to present their solutions, with the finalists being selected to present their solutions the following Monday at a dinner in Midtown to a panel of industry executives.

PRIZES

Prizes are awarded to the winning teams to be evenly divided among team members. 

• First place prize: US $5,000

• Second place prize: US $2,000

• Third place prize: US $1,000

Bio:


Randy Trzeciak is Technical Manager of CERT’s Enterprise Threat and Vulnerability Management Team and the Director of the CERT Insider Threat Center at Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute.  The team’s mission is to assist organizations in improving their security posture and incident response capability by researching technical threat areas; developing and conducting information security assessments; and providing information, solutions and training for preventing, detecting, and responding to illicit activity. Randy has over 27 years’ experience in a wide-range of topics including: insider threat, cybersecurity, software engineering, project management, information security, and database design, development, and maintenance.  In addition to his role with CERT, he also has a dual appointment as Program Director for the Masters of Science in Information Security Policy and Management (MSISPM) program and CERT professor at Carnegie Mellon’s Heinz College, Graduate School of Information Systems and Management.

Event Overview: 
During this session, attendees will learn practical strategies for building an effective insider threat program, to mitigate threats from malicious and non-malicious insiders (current/former employees, contractors, sub-contractors, supply chain, and other trusted business partners).  During the talk, numerous insider incidents will be presented to detail how incidents tend to evolve over time.  The session will conclude by reviewing best practices for the mitigation of insider threats and presenting a framework to develop insider threat controls, highlighting the development of behavioral and technical potential risk indicator development, deployment, and measurement.  CPU – 3hrs
