TAG: State of the Industry Breakfast 2019

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) invites you to its 1st Annual One TAG: State of the Industry Breakfast.

Join us as we review the State of the Industry: Technology in Georgia Report as well as unveil several of the ecosystems reports that are prominent in Georgia: Digital Health, FinTech, Supply Chain & Logistics, Digital Science & Analytics, Information Security and Digital Media & Entertainment.

Location:

Computer Museum of America

Agenda:
7:30am – 8:00am – Registration and networking

8:00am – 8:10am – Introduction to conference; scope of day’s content – Larry Williams

8:10am – 8:15am - Welcome from Computer Museum of America

8:15am – 8:30am – 2019 Tech Champion of the Year Announced

8:30am – 9:15am – Panel 1: How Data Security is the Foundation of all IT Infrastructures
Data Security is undoubtedly the hottest topic in the technology industry today as data breaches are straining the relationships between customers and vendors. Data security is not a standalone issue – it is pervasive throughout all areas of technology and business operations. It is interwoven throughout the implementation of new technologies and adding stability to legacy systems. Security is technology, business processes, corporate culture. Our panelists will discuss the impact data security is having on our network infrastructure going forward and the cybersecurity skills shortage we continue to see. Below is an example of how data security is impacting key industries across our ecosystems.

• Financial services: Financial services and insurance accounted for 19 percent of total cyberattacks in 2018, making it the most targeted industry. Customer bank information and payment card data offer financial motivation for external and internal actors to steal or misuse the data. (Source: 2019 X-Force Threat Intelligence Index)

• Retail: Retail organizations are among the most highly targeted groups when it comes to data breaches. Opportunities for data theft and exposure abound, with many different access points in the retail data lifecycle. Retail customers’ and associates’ access and share sensitive data in physical stores, online, and through mobile applications.

• Healthcare: Healthcare organizations, which process and store a unique combination of personal health information and payment card data, are subject to strict data privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Healthcare records also have the highest cost per breach record ($408), almost triple the average, making the proper use of data security products critical from both a business and regulatory compliance perspective. (Source: 2019 X-Force Threat Intelligence Index)

• Transportation: Transportation is a critical component of any country’s infrastructure, but if traveler data such as payment information, address or national ID numbers falls into the wrong hands, the results can be disastrous. Heavy reliance on distributed IT infrastructures and third-party vendors expand the attack surface, making it more important for the industry to secure sensitive data.

9:15am – 9:30am – Break

9:30am – 10:15am – Panel 2: Integrating Supply Chain and Logistics Technologies
The global economy is all about movement – the movement of goods and services and the movement of money. Sophisticated supply chain and logistics algorithms help manufacturers and distributes get the right goods to the right place at the right time. Extraordinary progress has been made in driving efficiencies into the business processes. Our specialist panel will discuss how these parallel track technologies are driving revenues and profits for many global companies.

10:15am – 11:00am – Panel 3: The Measurement of Opportunities and Progress in a Business World of Too Much Data

“If I only had the right data, I could measurably improve performance.” Georgia is an amazing hotbed of Data Science & Analytics technology. The challenge for most organization is taking advantage of the existing technology and melding it into organizations’ cultures. Yes, better analysis of data by qualified data scientists will yield improved results whether its sharpening internal operations or expanding market reach. Our specialist panel will focus on how Georgia-built technology is making a measurable difference in enabling ecosystem management to understand their business better.

11:00am – 11:45am – Georgia's Growing eSports Industry

11:45am – 12:00pm – The 2020 TAG “One Georgia”
