The conversations around the current and future impacts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are here to stay. The consequences of AI on human life and society may be dramatic and are crucial to understand, interpret, and potentially mitigate. TAG remains fully engaged in these conversations with experts across the tech industry and with local and national elected officials.
A recent study by Northwestern University highlights how AI is automating the news. From data-mining, newsbots, ChatGPT and automated writing systems – these intelligent technologies will continue to transform the industry. The study also takes a look at AI’s potential impacts on the journalism and media workforce.
For the first time, TAG is proud to partner with the Atlanta Press Club (APC) on an upcoming APC Newsmaker Leadership Series event entitled “The Impact of AI in Journalism and the News.” The evening event will feature panelists from the news industry, educators, tech professionals and more. The discussion will be robust and informative on the positive and potentially negative impacts of AI on how news is generated and consumed by the public.
TAG’s Media & Entertainment and Data Science & AI societies are keeping a close eye on this topic as well. I invite you to attend this joint TAG/APC event at Cox Enterprises on Thursday, October 5 from 5-7 pm. TAG members receive a discounted rate by using code: TAG. You can register your attendance here. I look forward to seeing you there!
