Nonprofits play a pivotal role in building healthy, resilient communities by improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations both locally and globally. They also contribute to strengthening the overall economy. In fact, in the U.S. alone, nonprofits employ roughly 10% of the workforce and generate an annual revenue of $2.62 trillion. And, as many of you know, Georgia is a leader in this space with world renowned NGOs such as Habitat for Humanity, CARE, the American Cancer Society, the Carter Center, and more.
Although we don’t often associate the work of nonprofits with the use of technology, it can be an incredible enabler for these organizations to assess their impact and improve their efficiency. As such, TAG is committed to supporting nonprofits in the region, especially through the use of data science.
In particular, TAG’s Data Science and Analytics Society recently launched the FOR GOOD Initiative. This year, the Society partnered with Enduring Hearts, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to fund research to increase longevity and improve the quality of life for children who have received a new heart. The partnership aims at identifying ways to optimize the organization’s donor pool in order to maximize its impact for good.
TAG Data Science and Analytics Society invites you to join their meeting on August 23rd in which volunteer data techies will discuss how they are helping Enduring Hearts work better and smarter. On this occasion, you will also learn about how TAG’s FOR GOOD Initiative works to support other organizations whose mission is to help foster children, veterans, reduce homelessness, opioid addiction, and other community social causes.
