TAG High-Tech Day at the Capitol

 

Join TAG for a day at the Georgia State Capitol. We encourage you to join TAG in meeting with Georgia's state legislators to educate them about issues in the technology arena. During this year’s High-Tech Day, the Georgia technology community representatives will be urging legislators to move on TAG’s legislative agenda which focuses on five main policy areas: Business and Industry, Economic Development and Taxation, Education and Workforce, Procurement, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. 2015 TAG Legislative Roundtable & Cyber Security Study Committee Presentations

 

The 2015 Legislative Roundtable fostered development of relationships and understanding of Georgia's policies surrounding science and technology. At the TAG Legislative Roundtable event, leading cyber security experts presented strategies on how to protect the state’s businesses and public organizations from cyber security attacks to the Georgia Senate & House Cyber Security Study Committee. The experts predominate recommendation is for Georgia to promote an ecosystem of cyber security education, workforce, and innovation. Click the link below to review the presentations. House Study Committee on the Use of Drones

 

The Drone Study Committee was to study areas of concern including the use of law enforcement agencies in obtaining evidence in criminal matters as well as in emergency conditions; the use of drones by state and local governing authorities and agencies; flying drones over private property and over the property with or without permission; the use of drones to photograph citizens in their private lives; and flying drones over public property. The committee held four hearing to gather information and to make recommendations the members may feel the House needs to consider. Special Election Results

 

The Special elections on December 1, 2015 produced results that look good for Republicans. In a closely-watched race in Savannah, challenger Eddie DeLoach defeated incumbent mayor Edna Jackson, 53% to 47%. Mayor Jackson won the first round of balloting last month, 44% to 42%. The other major surprise of the evening was in Senate District 43, where the runoff between Republican Janice Van Ness and Democrat Tonya Anderson.

Georgia Job Tax Credit Program

 

The program provides a statewide job tax credit for any business or headquarters of any such business engaged in manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, processing, telecommunications, tourism, or research and development industries, but does not include retail businesses.
