TAG and Hub Magazine’s Food Technology Features, Bytes, have teamed up with the Georgia Food Bank Association to engage Georgia’s technology community in the fight against hunger through Bytes for Bites, a friendly food and fund drive competition to benefit Georgia Food Banks.
The Georgia Food Bank Association is composed of eight (8) regional food banks that serve all 159 counties in Georgia. Collectively, they worked through nearly 2,400 partner agencies to distribute over 130 million pounds of food in 2015. To learn more go to their website here.
For two weeks only (June 12- June 23), Technology Companies and IT Departments across the state will compete to raise the most food and funds for their regional Food Bank. Now is the chance to face-off with your fiercest rivals in the industry and see who can have the biggest impact on hunger. Who will win the prestigious TAG Cup this year?
- May 1: Register by this date for 100 Bonus Points!
- June 12 -23: Bytes for Bites Competition!
- June 30: Last day to get donations to your Food Bank!
- July 14: TAG Day of Service - Winners Announced!
How it Works:
For every dollar raised during the competition, a company earns 4 points ($1=4 Points). For every pound of food raised, a company earns 1 point (1 Pound = 1 Point), with various opportunities for bonus points. Awards are also given based on points per employee, so any size company can be competitive!

The Company that raises the most pounds of food, based on per employee average, will win the prestigious TAG Cup. The Inaugural Bytes for Bites competition was a SUCCESS!
Over 40 technology and technology enabled companies representing more than 8,000 members of the industry raised $26,200 and 4,098 pounds of food for the Georgia Food Bank Association. This is the equivalent of 90,751 meals that the Food Banks will be able to distribute to families and children struggling with hunger in Georgia!
