Technology Association of Georgia Publishes Second Annual Cleantech & Sustainability Ecosystem Report

TAG News

ATLANTA – December 11, 2025 – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Smart Communities and Sustainability Society today released the 2025 Georgia Cleantech & Sustainability Ecosystem Report. The second annual edition reflects an era of transformation across Georgia’s Cleantech and Sustainability sector. It highlights the opportunities, risks and strategies to ensure the state remains a national leader in the Cleantech economy.

Heading into 2026, Georgia sits at the crossroads of energy technologies, advanced manufacturing and next generation mobility, quickly establishing itself as a leading hub for Cleantech innovation in the Southeast. Since 2022, the state has announced 35 Cleantech-related projects, and it currently ranks 15th for the largest clean energy workforce – with 85,000+ clean energy jobs in total.

“Georgia’s clean energy sector grew five times faster than the rest of the state’s economy in 2024, accounting for nearly 40 percent of all energy-related jobs in Georgia.” said Tanya Coventry-Strader, E2 Georgia Advisor. “However, this momentum faces serious threats from recent federal policy changes. In 2025, companies have canceled nearly $3 billion in planned clean energy projects in Georgia that would have created over 1,000 new jobs, underscoring the urgent need for state-level support to protect this vital economic engine.”

This year’s report compiles insights and learnings from key leaders in the Cleantech and Sustainability space working side by side, creating a powerful network that is inventing and scaling new solutions, modernizing infrastructure and positioning Georgia as a model for a thriving clean economy.

The report also includes a Georgia Cleantech & Sustainability Resource Guide, offering a comprehensive directory of organizations – from established corporations to emerging startups – driving innovation and impact across the state.

“Georgia’s Cleantech momentum is the result of an ecosystem that knows how to build, collaborate and scale,” said Larry K. Williams, President & CEO of TAG. “This report shows how leaders across industry, government and academia are driving real progress and positioning Georgia as a global leader in sustainable innovation. As we look toward 2026, TAG remains committed to supporting the companies and communities building a cleaner, more resilient future for our state.”

“Cleantech is thriving in Georgia and continuing to bolster our economy. The collaborative innovation of our ecosystem is pushing technology forward and identifying new ways to make our world more resilient,” said Cynthia Curry, Senior Director of Cleantech Ecosystem at the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “I’m so proud to work with the Cleantech thought leaders in the region to continue to drive progress and galvanize efforts, and I’m thankful to help Unleash Atlanta’s ambition to help create the Cleantech jobs of tomorrow and a better world for us all.”

The TAG Smart Communities & Sustainability Society spearheaded the development of the report alongside strategic partners, Metro Atlanta Chamber, E2 and Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub.
