ATLANTA, GA – [Oct. 6, 2025] — The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) has named Barry McCarthy, President, CEO, and Board Director of Deluxe (NYSE: DLX), as the recipient of the 2025 Georgia Technology Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor recognizes leaders who have built extraordinary careers and elevated Georgia’s innovation economy while advancing TAG’s 2030 Vision: Georgia as a Global Hub of Innovation.
The Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates a unifying force in Georgia’s tech ecosystem. McCarthy has been a champion of collaboration, a driver of growth, and a steadfast supporter of TAG’s mission to illuminate innovation across industries.
Since 2018, McCarthy has led Deluxe’s transformation from a legacy check printing company into a modern payments and data powerhouse, generating more than $2.2 billion in annual revenue, supporting millions of businesses, and processing nearly $3 trillion in electronic payments — approximately 15% of U.S. GDP.
Earlier in his career, McCarthy held senior leadership roles at First Data, where he played a role in advancing the evolution of digital payments, including early support for mobile wallet solutions such as Apple Pay.
In addition to his executive achievements, McCarthy is a former Chair of TAG, founder of the American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC), and a driving force behind both Fintech Atlanta and the Georgia Fintech Academy. He is the first individual to receive both the Fintech Hall of Fame induction and the Lifetime Achievement Award, a dual honor that reflects his enduring impact on the state’s technology ecosystem. McCarthy has also been deeply engaged with civic, humanitarian, and industry organizations that strengthen Georgia’s communities.

The Georgia Technology Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the 2025 TAG Chairs’ Gala on November 13, 2025, at The Foundry at Puritan Mill in Atlanta. This year’s Gala theme, Illuminate Innovation, will celebrate the leaders, companies, and communities shaping Georgia’s technology future.
