ATLANTA — The J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University now offers three AI graduate certificates aligned to how organizations build and apply artificial intelligence capabilities as the technology continues to reshape organizations and the workforce.

The certificates reflect three distinct ways professionals engage with AI, from developing solutions to designing systems that scale to leading AI-driven transformation within organizations.

  • The Graduate Certificate in Generative AI and Machine Learning for Business introduces the foundations of machine learning and generative AI, with a focus on building and applying AI solutions in business settings. Students learn how machine learning models detect patterns and predict outcomes, how AI systems can be used to develop new applications, and how AI solutions can be evaluated for reliability and impact. Through applied coursework, students gain experience prototyping and deploying AI-enabled solutions within business workflows.
  • The Graduate Certificate in AI for Data-Driven Business prepares students to build systems that enable AI across organizations. Students learn how to design and manage data pipelines that support AI systems and analytics, implement machine learning models in production environments, and ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with organizational needs.
  • The Graduate Certificate in AI for Digital Innovation develops leaders in AI-driven innovation, strategy, and organizational transformation. Students learn how to identify high-impact opportunities for AI, apply machine learning and generative AI to real business challenges, and implement solutions that improve decision-making, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation.

Each certificate can be completed in as few as two semesters and is offered in both in-person and online formats. The programs are designed for working professionals seeking to build new AI capabilities, as well as recent graduates who want to enter the workforce with applied AI experience. No prior coding experience is required.

“Organizations increasingly need professionals who can apply AI within business functions, not just technical specialists,” said Richard D. Phillips, dean of the Robinson College of Business. “Our goal is to develop AI builders, architects, and transformation leaders who can apply AI responsibly to create value in their organizations.”

Recent graduates report that the skills gained have helped them better understand how to apply AI tools in real business environments.

“The certificate gave me a strong foundation. Now I understand AI concepts at a deeper level, and I can speak more confidently with customers, and recognize where AI adds value in business scenarios,” said Abdulhakeem Olaoluwa, a recent graduate of the Gen AI and Machine Learning for Business certificate program who works as a digital solutions advisor for SAP. “AI is becoming part of everything, so having both business knowledge and AI proficiency makes me feel prepared for the future.”

Together, these certificates provide a comprehensive approach to developing AI capability across roles and industries.
