Atlanta — Distinguished University Professor Veda C. Storey, Tull Professor of Computer Information Systems and professor of computer science at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, has received the LEO Award for Lifetime Exceptional Achievement, the highest honor in the field of information systems. The Association for Information Systems (AIS) presented the award to Storey at the International Conference on Information Systems in Dec. 2025.

Established in 1999 and named for one of the first commercial applications of computing, the Lyons Electronic Office, the LEO Award recognizes outstanding scholars or practitioners who have made exceptional contributions to the information systems field. Recipients are selected for the breadth, depth, and longevity of their influence, and for serving as role models through scholarly excellence, leadership, and professional integrity.

Storey is internationally recognized for foundational contributions to data management, conceptual modeling, and design science research. She has served as a senior editor and associate editor for the discipline’s most selective journals, including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Decision Support Systems, and Communications of the ACM. Storey also has served as program co-chair of the International Conference on Information Systems.

Her leadership and scholarly impact have been recognized with the field’s highest honors. Storey is a member of the AIS College of Senior Scholars, and has served on the AIS executive committee, the steering committee of the International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, and as an advisor to the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems. Previous honors include the AIS Fellow Award, the ER Fellow Award, the Peter P. Chen Award, and the INFORMS Information Systems Society Distinguished Fellow Award.

“Veda Storey’s career exemplifies the very highest standards of scholarly achievement and intellectual leadership in information systems,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the Robinson College of Business. “ We are enormously proud that her contributions are being recognized with the LEO Award, the discipline’s most distinguished honor.”

Storey holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from Queen’s University, a B.Sc. from Mount Allison University, and an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in flute performance.

The Association for Information Systems, founded in 1994, is a professional organization that serves as the premier global organization for academics, students and professionals specializing in Information Systems. Learn more about AIS at www.aisnet.org.
