TAG Digital Media & Entertainment Awards announces GEORGIA’s OWN and GEORGIA LEGENDS Award Recipients and introduces exciting panel!
Atlanta, GA- (October 12, 2017) – The TAG Digital Media & Entertainment society announced the recipients of GEORGIA’s OWN and GEORGIA LEGENDS Awards as well as an exciting industry panel.
The 2017 ‘GEORGIA’S OWN’ Award recipients are Elisabeth Omilami and Afemo Omilami. They are film, TV and stage actors in such important productions as “Drum Line,” “Madea’s Family Reunion” “The Hunger Games,” “Forrest Gump,” “People’s Survival Theater” and more; they are also philanthropists and humanitarians (Hosea Helps/Hosea Feed the Hungry), community leaders and activists.
The 2017 ‘GEORGIA LEGENDS’ Award recipient is Louvain Demps – legendary singer and Motown recording artist of The Andantes.
Confirmed panelists, (Emcee and Moderator) Cara Kneer – Host, Atlanta Tech Edge, 11 Alive WXIA, (for Broadcast) Michael Campbell – President/CEO Black on Purpose Television Network BOPTV; (for Music) Curtis Daniel III – CEO/COO Patchwerk Recording Studios; (for Video Games & Digital Media) Andrew Greenberg – Executive Director, Georgia Game Developers Association; (for Film, Policy) Craig Miller – Chair of the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission, Producer/Craig Miller Productions; (for Film, Education) Jeffrey Stepakoff – Executive Director of The Georgia Film Academy, Producer/Writer, Professor. This year’s panel topic of discussion is: “A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats: Strategic Planning for Interdependent Growth Among Industry Segments.”
The event will also feature the annual ‘Icons of the Industry Award’ presented to Sidney Topol, satellite and cable television pioneer and a keynote session “We Get the Picture: Georgia’s Meteoric (But Not Overnight) Rise in the Film Industry,” by Lee Thomas, Deputy Commissioner, Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office.
The event will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 11:00am – 4:00pm at The Battery Atlanta at SunTrust Park.
