ATLANTA, GA --September 13, 2016--- The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and its TAG TransTechsociety will hold a TransTech STEM event at Kennesaw State’s Marietta campus on September 21. The event is sponsored by DEKRA North America and will feature the STEM behind motorsports and the automotive industry. It will feature not only KSU’s Formula SAE student organization but also DeltaWing Technology Group’s one-of-a-kind race car. The DeltaWing coupe on display will race in the October 1 Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta, the season finale for the IMSA WeatherTech Series.
DEKRA, headquartered in Marietta, GA, is the world’s leader in automotive technical inspection and has played a major role in automotive safety. President and CEO, Don Nicholson will address the middle and high school students in attendance about DEKRA’s Teen Road Safety Program which is receiving high acclaim. DEKRA is also the official technical certification partner of the IMSA WeatherTech Series.
Don Panoz, founder and chairman of DeltaWing, will start off the day keynoting a breakfast at the Southern Tech campus student center open to TAG members and the public. He will be accompanied by professional race car driver Katherine Legge, who drives for Panoz and formerly participated in the IndyCar series.
Panoz is also expected to provide some vintage Panoz road and race cars to chronicle the progression of engineering, design and technology within the automotive and motorsports industry. The event will be held at KSU’s Joe Mack Wilson Student Center and courtyard. The university’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology houses its Formula SAE program in which students design and build innovative vehicles from scratch to compete against other universities throughout North America.
