SVP & CIO
Bill VanCuren is senior vice president (SVP) and chief information officer (CIO) for NCR Corporation. Bill is a member of both the corporate leadership team and the leadership council.
His current assignment as the CIO has oversight over the full strategic IT portfolio, global networks and processing services for both internal and external customer managed services, and all workgroup collaborative and mobile computing. His role also includes information security and compliance as well as SaaS data center strategy and rationalization.
Bill has driven world-class levels of efficiency and improved effectiveness via a combined IT/business governance. As a result of implementing leading practice strategies, his organization is consistently named to the InformationWeek 500 and in CIO magazine’s CIO 100. Bill was named CIO of the year in Georgia for 2011 and received the Ed Steineke award for top CIO leading philanthropy in 2018.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, Cum Laude, from The Ohio State University and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Dayton. He has also received executive training at Stanford University, along with a variety of extended leadership training from the NCR University.
He is the co-chair of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association (GCLA). Bill is an advisory board member to the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business and University of Georgia management information systems (MIS) program. Bill is active in non-profits in the Atlanta area such as TechBridge and PowerMyLearning, which provides technology to underprivileged students and communities.
Bill lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia, with his wife, Jeannie. His hobbies include skiing, boating and hiking. Bill is a member of both The Ohio State University Buckeye Club and the President’s Club.
Today, the expectations on a CIO are great. CIOs need to be skilled business leaders with strong cross-functional skills, have global experience and possess exceptional interpersonal and soft skills. Additionally, they need to have the ability to be forward-looking, to provide innovation through technology, to re-design business processes and be proactive in aligning business and IT.
The CIO Roundtable Series provides the best venue for CIOs to further develop their skills and knowledge base. It serves as the premier place for Information Technology executives to interact with peers in a non-selling and non-competitive forum.
