Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the difference between classes & workshops and part-time courses?

A part-time course meets either twice a week in the evenings or once a week on Saturdays, and range between 10-12 weeks total. Classes & Workshops run on each campus, 7 days a week and range from 1 hour to 3-day workshops.

How is student performance measured?

General Assembly measures student progress through frequent homework assignments and in-depth projects. Students are graded on a pass/fail basis. To receive a passing grade, students must: 1) Receive a passing grade on 8-% of all homework assignments (homework is graded based on completion), 2) maintain consistent attendance, and 3) receive a passing grade on all course projects. Qualitative feedback is provided throughout the course.

What verification do you providee that a student has completed the course?

We award a Letter of Completion upon successful completion of the course.

Is General Assembly an accredited academic institution?

While we strive to provide a top notch educational experience and set a high abr for ourselves when it comes to our programming, we are not an accredited academic institutuion. We believe it is important for us to maintain this status to continue to teach the most relevant, practical, and up-to-date skills.
