Please join the Technology Association of Georgia for our 2016 Business Technology Awards by applying or nominating a company that you believe is being innovative in its use or develop of technology. This awards program is also currently excepting sponsorship for all levels. What are the Business Technology Awards?

The purpose of the Business Technology Awards are to highlight the innovative technology being used or developed in the coastal region. Celebrating the innovation happening around the area will help serve as a catalyst for continued technological improvements and assist in make this area a better place to do business. The celebration will take place on Thursday, December 8th from 5:30 - 8:30pm in Savannah, GA at the Coastal Georgia Center. This is a banquet style awards ceremony with a cocktail hour prior to the event. 

The awards are broken down into 3 categories, but 5 total awards will be given out. Two categories are both broken down into a "Small Cap" and "Large Cap" category that helps level the playing field for all applicants. The awarded categories for this event will be:

  • Innovation in Utilization (Small Cap)
  • Innovation in Utilization (Large Cap)
  • Innovation in Development (Small Cap)
  • Innovation in Development (Large Cap)
  • Overall Most Innovative

 

Innovation in Utilization

The "Innovation in Utilization" award will be given to the most innovative technology that is currently in use or being sold by the company applying. In order to win this category the technology must be passed the research & development stage and in utilization. During the application process an estimate must be given for the amount spent on the technology; this will help determine if it belongs in the "Small Cap" or "Large Cap" category. 

 

Innovation in Development

The "Innovation in Development" award will be given to the most innovative technology that is currently being developed. In order to win this category the technology must be currently undergoing research & development. During the application process an estimate must be given for the amount spent on the technology; this will help determine if it belongs in the "Small Cap" or "Large Cap" category. 

 

Overall Most Innovative

The "Overall Most Innovative" technology will be given to the technology that that stands out the most from the applicant pool. In order to win this category the technolgy must have a strong impact on either the company, the customers, the community or have a very promising chance of having these impacts after the R&D phase.

 

Who can apply for these awards?

The applications are open to the following:

  • Companies currenlty developing new technologies (R&D Phase)
  • Companies currenlty using/selling already developed technology (Post R&D)
  • The company is located in one of the following counties: Chatham, Liberty, Bulloch, Bryan, Jasper, McIntosh & Glynn counties. 

 

Applications and nominations are currently open. Please apply below or nominate a company that you believe is being innovative in one of the above areas. The deadline to apply is Monday, November 21st.

 Keynote

Sheryl Bunton, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. will be presenting “Developing Next Generation Leaders in IT” 

 

 

Sheryl is responsible for establishing and leading the delivery of technology solutions and strategies across the Gulfstream enterprise. 

Prior to joining Gulfstream, Bunton served as worldwide CIO for AGCO Corp., where she was responsible for managing more than 500 applications and a complex SAP environment. Bunton also worked as the CIO for Southwire Company, a leading manufacturer of wire and cable, and as a general manager for MYTecSoft Inc., an SAP consulting firm.

Bunton also has experience in the financial industry, having worked for more than a decade for then – AT&T Capital Corp., where she started as a sales representative and worked in positions of increasing responsibility until becoming senior vice president for the industrial finance business unit.

Bunton earned a business degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the AT&T School of Business in partnership with the Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia.
