Deal announces AP STEM grant awards 

 

Gov. Nathan Deal announced five grant awards for the Georgia Rural AP STEM Initiative to support the implementation of AP programs in Computer Science and Statistics. This initiative is the result of a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement and the College Board and is designed to create a vertical pathway to student success in AP STEM courses in high-need, rural areas throughout Georgia.

Q&A with Senator Bruce Thompson on Cybersecurity

 

With the added attention given to the Presidential election and the possibility of foreign interference in that process, it seemed appropriate to have a discussion with Data Security and Privacy Study Committee Chairman, Senator Bruce Thompson. Thompson was tasked with assessing the vulnerability of certain systems and formulating plans to counter possible threats and data breaches.

Georgia Lottery Corp. raises over half-billion dollars for HOPE, Pre-K

 

The Georgia Lottery Corp. has announced that fiscal year 2017 first-half and second-quarter profits have reached their highest since inception in 1993. According to a media release, “profits for the first half of fiscal year 2017 soared to $541 million – $24.5 million ahead of last year’s record.

Dr. Tom Price: "Thank You and Farewell" 

 

The U.S. Senate voted today to confirm Tom Price, M.D. as the 23rd Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Upon confirmation, Congressman Price resigned his seat as the U.S. Representative for Georgia's 6th Congressional District. Sonny Perdue Is Trump’s Choice for Agriculture Secretary

 

President Donald Trump selected former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue to be the next Agriculture secretary. Perdue, a former Democrat who switched to the Republican Party before governing Georgia for two terms from 2003 to 2011, has a strong agricultural background, having grown up on a farm and earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
