Governor being Honored at the 4th Annual STEM Awards

 

TAG and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) today announced the finalists for the fourth annual STEM Education awards.  These awards were created to recognize and celebrate schools, extracurricular programs, public-private partnerships, science agencies and post-secondary education outreach programs for outstanding efforts and achievement in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering, and math education in Georgia. Rep. John Carson Announces Changes to More Take Home Pay Act

 

State Representative John Carson (R–Marietta) today announced changes to House Bill 445, or the More Take Home Pay Act.  HB 445, originally introduced during the 2015 legislative session, seeks to reform Georgia’s tax system by broadening the tax base and moving toward a more consumption-based model. The Full House Ways & Means Committee will meet Tuesday, August 18th at 10:00am in 606 CLOB.

Three House Seats To Be Decided Today

 

Tuesday August 11, 2015 marks the end of the summer round of special elections that started in June. Voters will go to the polls to choose new representation in House District 80, which includes portions of DeKalb and Fulton counties, House District 146, which includes much of Houston county, and House District 155, which includes portions of the South Georgia counties of Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, Tift, and Turner. MARTA, Uber, and the Future of Transportation

 

Fresh off a new wave of enthusiasm for transit in Atlanta, MARTA is now announcing two new initiatives to solidify its new image as a draw for Millennials: free wi-fi and Uber. The wi-fi proposal is relatively simple, according to Saporta Report’s scoop: MARTA executives announced Thursday that it would immediately implement free wi-fi services on 50 MARTA buses, with plans to expand that service to all buses, rail stations, and trains in a year’s time.

The Broad Tax Extenders Coalition and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) are working together to deliver a joint sign-on letter urging members of Congress to revive, extend, and in some cases make permanent, temporary tax provisions that expired at the end of 2014.
