2017 Georgia Legislative Session Comes to an End

 

Thursday, March 30th was the last legislative day of the 2017 40-day session of the Georgia General Assembly. The Georgia General Assembly wrapped up early Friday morning sending a list of bills to Governor Nathan Deal’s desk for final approval. Last Friday marked the start of a 40-day period for Governor Deal to sign measures into law or veto them.

Georgia DOT Aims to Reopen I-85 by June 15 

 

The Georgia DOT announced yesterday it plans to complete the rebuilding of I-85 by June 15, 2017, returning motorists to one of the main arteries through metro Atlanta approximately 10 weeks after its collapse. The federal government last Friday approved plans to send $10 million in emergency relief dollars to the state of Georgia to assist with cleanup and repair of the highway.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced Monday multiple measures on H-1B visas. The H-1B visa program should help U.S. companies recruit highly-skilled foreign nationals when there is a shortage of qualified workers in the country.
