OneEighty new way of looking at the major trends in the technology industry. In today’s quickly evolving environment, it is essential for technology professionals to take a different look at the industry’s issues. Technology professionals will leave each session with timely information and new insights.”
In 2009, Georgia Tech professors provide overviews of today’s best thinking on business topics related to Sustainability, Green IT, and Environmental Scorecards , Risk and Total Quality Management in Technology Development Projects and Branding and Information Technology.

In the first session we will explore what the fuss is all about over environmental issues in the IT industry. Dr. Ferguson will lead a discussion on what Green IT looks like from the buyer’s and seller’s perspective. Energy usage and environmental regulations are on the agenda as are case studies on exploring secondary market strategies in the IT industry. Participants will learn the definition and importance of an environmental scorecard and go through a case study of a scorecard project step-by-step.

Insights will be offered on how to effectively implement TQM and convincing management to invest in TQM.

As systematic project management knowledge is applied to an increasingly wide range of “non-routine” activities, such projects are becoming an increasingly large and important part of project management. Projects become vehicles for executing the organization’s strategy. Their position in the portfolio of all strategic activities must be defined and understood. Dr. Kavadias will present several methods for linking project management knowledge with strategy deployment and portfolio management.

Dr. Challagalla will provide you with a model to make better branding decisions and open a forum on applying these principles in a high tech environment. At the end of the session, participants should understand the importance of brands and be knowledgeable about and able to apply instruments to create, monitor, and manage brands.
