Winners Announced for Sixth Annual STEM Education Awards

 

ATLANTA (November 7, 2017) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) announced the winners for the sixth annual STEM Education awards at a special ceremony held in Atlanta on Friday, November 3rd.  These awards were created to recognize and celebrate schools, extracurricular programs, public-private partnerships, and post-secondary education outreach programs for outstanding efforts and achievement in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering, and math education in Georgia. More than 150 members of the technology and education community were on hand at the event which was sponsored by State Farm.

“According to Georgia Department of Labor projections, Georgia will need to fill more than 79,000STEM jobs through 2020,” said Larry Williams, President of TAG. “Our 2017 STEM Education Award winners and finalists are helping Georgia meet the future demands of our innovation economy and we are proud to recognize their good work.”

The following are the winners for the 2017 awards:

  • Elementary School – Tritt Elementary- Marietta, GA
  • Middle School – The STEM Academy at Bartlett- Savannah, GA
  • High School – Lambert High School-Suwanee, GA
  • Corporate Outreach- Georgia Transmission Corporation
  • Post-Secondary Outreach – Georgia Tech Research Institute
  • Extracurricular Program – STEAM Truck      
  • STEM Day Activity – J.C. Booth MS- Peachtree City, GA
  • STEM Certified School Outreach – Amana Academy- Alpharetta, GA
