Winners Announced for Mobility Live Hack Back Invitational

$30,000 in Cash and Prizes awarded to the winners.

 

ATLANTA (September 23rd, 2014) –The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber, today announced that Team MTM-Hack, who developed a solution for the American Cancer Society,are the winners of the first ever Mobility Live Hack-Back Invitational.

 

The Mobility Live Hack-Back Invitational is a unique event whereby teams of hackers are invited to develop mobility solutions for national based non-profits in a competition for $30,000 in cash prizes. Teams of programmers, developers and coders were invited to compete in the event while helping to give (hack) back to three of the nation’s leading non-profit organizations: American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Points of Light.

 

MTM-Hack, which was lead by Tamby Kojak and included team members Matt Byrne and Mahmoud Abouelnasr, bested 5 other presenting teams, winning $12,000 as the overall winner of the competition. Their application was developed for American Cancer Society and enabled cancer survivors to connect through the My Cancer Survivor Network which consists of message boards, real time messaging, mapping, and an experience tracker.

 

Teams Superfly and Magenic also took home first place honors in their respective categories with each team winning $3,000.

 

Team Superfly’s project, submitted by Steve Bussey, created a mobile-friendly website that allows Boys & Girls Club alumni and members to connect.

 

Team Magentic was made up of Dalon Huntington, Nathan Dupuis, and Todd Richardson. Their submission, which also won Audience Favorite, included an augmented reality experience that users can use to interact with the The Extra Mile- Points of Light Volunteer Pathway monument in Washington DC.

Media personalities Dana Barrett of WAFS-AM’s The Dana Barrett Show and Atlanta Tech Edge correspondent, Angel Maldonado of WXIA-TV served as emcees for the event, which was held Tuesday, September 23rd at Midtown Atlanta's Opera entertainment complex. 

 

Held in conjunction with the 2014 Mobility Live Conference in Atlanta, the Hack Back Invitational is a month-long hack-a-thon designed to expose the nation’s tech talent and entrepreneurs to Georgia’s mobile technology sector, while assisting leading non-profits.
