TAG Corporate Development Presents:
Crowdfunding in Georgia – 2016
Georgia, a Crowdfunding pioneer, marks another first for Intrastate Crowdfunding with the new $5 Million amount startups can raise through the Invest Georgia Exemption (IGE) program.
ATLANTA, GA--April 19, 2016-- The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) in partnership with the TAG Corporate Development Society announced that it will host its ‘Crowdfunding in Georgia’ legislative and executive panel discussion on Thursday, May 5th at the Atlanta Tech Village in Buckhead, GA.
Featuring Georgia’s Secretary of State Brian Kemp, this event will discuss the positive implications of the new U.S. JOBS Act and the Invest Georgia Exemption (IGE) program. Additional presenters include the CEO of the first business in the nation to qualify under the new federal crowdfunding rule (Regulation A+), the Assistant Regional Director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Assistant Commissioner of Securities for the State of Georgia.
Georgia was the second state in the country to pass legislation allowing crowdfunding for companies. Secretary of State Brian Kemp said in a recent interview, “We had some good feedback from companies that the $1 million cap was really limiting the type of projects that could use the exemption, so we are looking into raising the limit to allow even more investment into Georgia companies.” In late 2015, the offering limit was raised to $5 million, the highest in the country.
TAG Corporate Development board member Jim Forbes commented, “Secretary Kemp’s leadership of innovative funding opportunities for Georgia-based startup companies continues to lead the nation.”
More than 200 entrepreneurs, startup companies and other professionals are expected to attend.
