Georgia Technology Summit Celebrates Innovation Adventures

 

Cox Enterprise Chair, James C. Kennedy and Atlanta Falcons Owner Arthur M. Blank honored at event focused on “Innovation Adventures”

 

 

ATLANTA (March 18th, 2016) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) hosted its 12th annual Georgia Technology Summit in front of more than 1,500technology professionals, making it one of the nation’s largest statewide gatherings of technology companies and professionals in the Southeast.

 

This year’s event focused on “Innovation Adventures” and boasts a packed agenda filled with leading pioneers and innovators. Cox Enterprises Chair, James C. Kennedy was inducted into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia and noted businessman and philanthropist Arthur M. Blank, was honoredwith TAG’s prestigious “Captain of Innovation” award.  The GTS appearance was Blank’s first public appearance since he announced his cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Additionally three keynoters addressed Summit attendees:

 

  • Kevin Ashton - visionary technologist who is the co-founder of the Auto-ID Center at MIT and author of “How to Fly a Horse: The Secret History of Creation, Invention, and Discovery”
  • Vice Admiral Ted Branch - 65th Director of U.S. Naval Intelligence who supervises the information warfare domain and naval cyber security.
  • Cameron Clayton- CEO and General Manager at The Weather Company, an IBM Business.

 

Another summit highlight was the announcement of the winners of the Global Payments FinApps Party which is a hackathon competition that was simultaneously hosted in Atlanta and London last week.

 

The annual TAG State of the Industry Report was also released at the summit and 40 new companies were named to TAG’s Top 40/Top 10 Innovative Companies in Georgia.
