Announcing Georgia Gives Day 2016
ATLANTA (October 17, 2016)—TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed), the charitable affiliate of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), is pleased to announce its participation in the fifth annual Georgia Gives Day on Nov. 17.
This state-wide online fundraiser drives awareness and donations for nonprofits across Georgia, encouraging residents to come together for a day of giving. Since the inaugural event in 2012, Georgia Gives Day has activated more than 54,000 donors across the state, who have given upwards of $9 million to support more than 2,400 organizations. Donors can give directly to nonprofits on Georgia Gives Day through GAgives.org.
“Nonprofits touch nearly every part of our lives,” said Karen Beavor, President and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. “We are very excited to give Georgians an opportunity to truly recognize the nonprofit organizations in their community and give where they live.”
All proceeds made through Georgia Gives Day will go directly toward TAG-Ed’s STEM educational programming for K-12 Georgia students. Highlighted programs include Georgia STEM Day, an annual awareness campaign that engages over 600,000 students, the Exploring STEM Careers Pipeline Program, a two-year program that engages underserved students in developing STEM skills, and the High School Summer Internship Program, an initiative that has immersed over 800 high school students in five-week, paid summer internships. Through these opportunities, TAG-Ed has engaged over one million Georgia students annually in STEM.
To donate to TAG Education Collaborative on Georgia Gives Day, please mark your calendar for one month from today on November 17. All donations can be made via the online portal here. TAG Education Collaborative is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations made are tax-deductible.
