Mentors
One of the most unique features of the TAG Business Launch 2012 is the opportunity for entrants to receive mentoring. Georgia is fortunate to have a number of individuals who have been successful in identifying and starting a variety of high tech businesses and several of these are interested in giving back to the community by helping others become successful.
Entrants must submit a preliminary entry (a one or two page summary of the business concept) to TAG by (Feb – specific date TBD). At this time entrants may request a mentor. Mentors will be assigned based on the needs of each entrant, the strength of each preliminary entry and the number of mentors that are available. Mentors will not be available to all entrants. Mentoring is intended to help entrants further develop and refine proposals, not identify or develop basic concepts. Final entries (an executive summary and business case) are due to TAG by (April – specific date TBD).
Once a mentor is assigned to an entrant, the mentor will initiate a contact. The exact role of the mentor is not specified and generally will be determined by the mentor. A number of factors will influence the role including the nature of the entrant's proposal, its stage of development and the time available for both the mentor and the entrant.
Mentors will have no role in the judging or any discussions with the judges about entrants they are mentoring. There is no requirement or expectation for the mentor to be involved beyond the submission process, however, the mentor may choose to provide ongoing support.
