How to Apply

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please read through this entire page for specific instructions.

Entry in the TAG Business Launch Competition involves two steps:

  1. a preliminary entry which is due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012.
    Please note:  This deadline WILL NOT be extended.
  2. a final entry which is due by March 16, 2012, followed by a presentation to the judges on March 26 or March 27, 2012.
Both entries must be submitted via email to josh@tagonline.org AND sera@tagonline.org as Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word file attachments no later than 5:00 p.m. on the due date. Please note that applicants will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. Applicants that do not receive confirmation should contact Joshua Lewis or Sera Turgut at 404.817.3333

For the February 24, 2012 preliminary entry, three items are required:

  1. signed terms and conditions ;
  2. a completed questionnaire ;
  3. a brief summary of the business proposal.  The format of the summary in the preliminary entry is not specified but should at least provide a basic business proposal. In the past years, most preliminary entries have been one or two pages. The purpose of the brief summary submitted on February 24, 2012 is to assign mentors. This summary will not be used in subsequent judging.

For the March 23, 2012 Final Application/Entry, the following items are required:

  1. Executive Summary 
  2. Pitch Presentation with the following components:
    • Introduction
    • Team
    • Opportunity
    • Solution
    • Competition
    • Business Model
    • The Ask

    For more detailed information on how to structure your Pitch Presentation, we highly recommend that you visit this site for guidance and a model.

If you applied in previous years, please note that we will not be requiring a 20-page business plan as part of any application process for the 2012 Competition.

The final entry received on March 23, 2012 will be used for the remainder of the competition. Following submissions on March 23, 2012, entries will be evaluated by a team of preliminary judges and invited to present to these judges at a special Business Launch Gauntlet event in the following week. Applicants will be notified regarding his/her selection as a semi-finalist on or before April 4th, 2012.
