On September 25th, TAG Healthcare Society partnered with the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine to host an outstanding lineup of speakers that examined how healthy workforces impact healthcare cost, productivity and profits.  The event, titled “Building and Measuring the Return on Healthy Workforces”, was chaired by Steve Reeves with TAG Healthcare, and included talks by globally noted experts who discussed how corporations are creating and realizing the benefits of healthy workforces.

Dr. Satcher, whose past leadership roles include 16th Surgeon General of the U.S. and Director of the CDC, served as keynote for the event. Dr. Satcher discussed the many different initiatives including the reduction of tobacco use, reduction of obesity and overweight, increasing Mental Health support, creating healthier lifestyles and the Institute’s Healthy People 2010 initiative.

Speakers included:
• Mr. Ahmad Amer, Verizon Wireless Data Solutions Manager discussed how mobile devices are being used to create healthy workforces.
• Mr. Michael Williamson, Executive Vice President and COO of Horizon Software International, LLC spoke about obesity and nutrition monitoring, and solutions his company offers for educational, healthcare and corporate dining.
• Ms. Maria T. Norman, CEBS, Northrop Grumman’s Director of Benefits, Strategy and Design talked about different initiatives that her company is using to create healthy lifestyles.
• Dr. Donald Fetterolf, M.D.,M.B.A.,FACP, Alere spoke about the challenges and opportunities of disease management programs, and the impact on productivity and profit.
• Mr. Wayne Oliver, The Center for Health Transformation” spoke about the purpose of the Center along with the health transformation initiatives that return the individual to the center of the health system using “Health-Based” reform.
