TAG and GCLA will host a second Connecting Georgia’s Companies event in November and are now requesting information from companies interested in presenting to the audience of CIOs and other tech leaders. Georgia-based vendors who have innovative solutions to the “focus areas” selected by GCLA’s members are asked to complete the online request and submit it no later than October 13th. Web 2.0 and Mobility, Cloud/XaaS, and Security/Compliance were recently selected as some of the biggest challenges for Georgia’s CIOs. Those companies whose RFIs are selected will have the opportunity to present on November 11th and will have their company’s information displayed online.
TAG and GCLA will accept up to four TAG-member companies from each category to present their solutions to a prestigious group of Georgia CIOs, CTOs and other leaders. Prior to the program, the selected companies will be given support and counsel on their presentations by the staff of Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC). At the event, presentations will be limited to just five minutes and will be followed by five minutes of Q&A. The event will also include a panel discussion, networking reception, and sponsor exhibit booths. For additional information on the event and/or how to submit an RFI please visit http://www.tagonline.org/ConnectGA.php. The deadline for submitting an RFI is 5 p.m. October 13.
Connecting Georgia’s Companies is the result of a partnership between the Georgia CIO Leadership Association (GCLA) and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). For the participating CIOs it is a unique opportunity to hear from TAG-Member vendor companies based here in Georgia.
Program information can be found online at http://www.tagonline.org/connectga.php Questions should be directed to Amanda Shook at or 404-920-2023.

One of my favorite things in the world is when the kernel of an idea actually becomes reality. One of my favorite personal bests was when I was CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and my team raised over $50 million dollars to build new inner city and suburban YMCAs. It started as an idea to double the amount of money that was ever raised before. Many community leaders that didn’t wanted to do any ordinary thing jumped on board. The size and the scope of the project created the momentum. It was big....and we did it.
Venture Atlanta is tracking a similar path. Allen Moseley, Fred Sturgis, Ashish Mistry, and other leaders from TAG and the CEO Council said we need to have a world-class venture conference in Atlanta.
They knew that we had all the ingredients to pull it off. Their bold thinking quickly caught the attention of David Hartnett and the Metropolitan Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and leaders of the three organizations set out to make it happen. This initiative has had many firsts. One of the most notable was that our three non-profit organizations agreed to front the money (a loan) to hire an Executive Director to run Venture Atlanta Coalition Incorporated. Allyson Eman was brought on board and is doing a great job.
The first Venture Conference is now only a month away. Moving from an idea to reality has been rewarding. Everything is falling into place to make this event the best venture conference ever held in Georgia. We will have twenty great companies to showcase to over 100 investors from around the USA. Sponsors, led by Morris Manning & Martin have responded as well. We are ready to go and it will be big....and we will have added a great new element to the entrepreneurial infrastructure of Atlanta.

On behalf of TAG’s Breakfast Series program, I would like to invite you to join us for a presentation given by Bruce Davidson, Deputy Director of the Office of SAFETY Act Implementation, Science and Technology Directorate of the Department of Homeland Security.
Mr. Davidson will highlight the SAFETY Act, which ensures that the threat of liability does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing, deploying, and commercializing products and services that could save lives. Developers or producers of technologies or services intended to prevent, detect, identify, or deter acts of terrorism or limit the harm such acts might otherwise cause, may not know that their company may be eligible for critical risk management and legal liability protections authorized by this important Act of Congress. This presentation will provide information on the nature and scope of these benefits, and the criteria and process used to determine whether your products or services might qualify to receive them.

If you’d like to understand how something as basic as requirements definition can improve the overall performance of sales, services and support in addition to product success, you won’t want to miss the next TAG Product Management Society event where you’ll gain a new perspective on the value of requirements.
Requirements That Drive The Value Chain
