Twelve Companies Chosen As Excalibur Award Finalists
Finalists Will Be Presented At Technology Summit October 13
ATLANTA (October 2, 2006) – A leading super-regional energy company, an organization to aid people convicted of crimes they did not commit and a company that helps organizations secure and manage documents are among the 12 finalists for the annual Excalibur Awards that recognize Georgia companies for their use of technology to gain competitive advantage.
The Excalibur Award winners will be presented at Oct.13, 2005 Excalibur Award’s breakfast co-hosted by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the Business and Technology Alliance (B&TA).
Matthew Szulik, chairman of Red Hat, will be the keynote speaker at the event to be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel Buckhead in Atlanta.
“We are very excited to have Matthew as our keynote speaker,” said Tino Mantella, president of TAG. “Red Hat is one of the most innovative technology companies in the country and Matthew’s perspective on the future direction of the industry will certainly be insightful.”

Nominees for the Excalibur Award were judged on a variety of criteria including the scope of the problem solved, the creativity of the technology-enabled solution, return on investment and business results.
”We are very pleased to introduce ‘Creativity’ as a new category for the Excalibur Awards this year,” said Marc Fleury, chairperson of the event and chief executive officerof the leading Atlanta technology company, JBoss, which merged with Red Hat earlier this year. “The Creativity Award recognizes companies that have applied the most innovative technology solutions to complex organizational opportunities.”
The event is nearly sold-out with over 300 people registered to attend.The Excalibur Awards recognize tech-enabled companies, TAG’s winter event, known as the Georgia Technology Summit, shines the spotlight on innovative technology companies.That event is slated for February 28, 2007 at the Cobb Galleria.
