2009 GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition Announces Semifinalists

April 29, 2009 ATLANTA, GA The Georgia Research Alliance/Technology Association of Georgia business launch competition have selected the semifinalists to compete for $100,000 in cash and over $200,000 in services. The event is designed to help a local start up technology-based company launch its business and has become one of largest competitions of its kind in the United States. It is the GRA and TAG's way to reward high-tech entrepreneurship and assure a deserving Georgia start up company has everything in place to be successful.

The semifinalists are AccelerEyes, Balaya, Band Metrics, Cobot Health, Fans Want More, Fizzbee, MedsFile.com, Millionaire Moms, ReinventED Technologies, TalentSoup, VOC Systems, VQLink and WebIvy.


The three finalists will be announced May 8th and will participate in the final competition at IBM on June 3rd.  The final judges include an all-star panel featuring Mark Barry, venture partner, OpenView Venture Partners; Richard Bendis, president and CEO, Innovation America; Matthew Chagan, vice president, Trident Capital; Nelson Chu, managing partner, Kinetic Ventures; Kevin Costello, president, Ariba; Tom Crotty, general partner, Battery Ventures (Boston); Matt McConnell, CEO, Knowlagent; and Roger Hurwitz, partner, Fidelity Ventures.

 

The event will also feature a panel discussion with our distinguished judges discussing the current investment climate in Georgia, as well as a panel discussion of past winners.
