TAG UNVEILS 2009 TOP 10 INNOVATIVE GEORGIA TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES

ATLANTA (Feb. 26, 2009) – After considering nearly 100 applicants, the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) announces its 2009 Top 10 Innovative Technology Companies who will present at the Georgia Technology Summit: Energy of Innovation, on March 3, 2009 at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

The Top 10 companies are: Acculynk, Asankya, CCP North America, NanoLumens, PlayON! Sports, Pramana, Purewire, SecureWorks, Suniva, Unicoi Systems.

“This was another solid year for the Top 40, with the next generation of Georgia innovators poised to further expand the State’s reputation for being a technology hotbed,” said Tino Mantella, president of TAG. “The Top 10 finalists represent an exciting mix of companies that I’m sure we’ll hear more from in the years to come.”
The TAG Top 40 are selected based on a number of criteria, including: degree of innovation; scope and financial impact of innovation; likelihood of success; and promotion of Georgia’s innovative efforts nationally and internationally
“The Top 40 selection process has become increasingly competitive each year,” said Dennis Zakas, a partner with McKenna Long & Aldridge and chairperson of the Selection Committee for the Top 10 and Top 40.  “It was quite difficult  to choose the Top 10 because all of our finalists have incredibly innovative technologies.  This competition demonstrates  that Georgia is extremely successful  in developing innovative technology companies.”

In addition to Zakas, the 2009 committee members include:  co-chair Ron Dolinsky (MARKETQUEST), Kathy Harris (Noro-Moseley Partners), Sig Mosley (Imlay Investments), Stephen Fleming (Georgia Tech), Ben Dyer (TechDrawl), Don House (Chairman, VersionOne,) Jeff Muir (Fulcrum Ventures), Knox Massey (Atlanta Technology Angels), Michael Reene, Mark Samuels (Johns Creek Capital and GT Venturelab), Mark Barry (Openview Partners), Ed Croft (Croft & Bender), Linnea Geiss (Arcapita) and Paul Stamatiou (Skribit).
