Jay is currently Executive Vice President, Chief Information and Product Officer for EarthLink bringing 20 years of transformational leadership to an organization that helps thousands of customers securely establish critical connections in the cloud, keeping businesses and residents online, out-front and informed. With extensive experience in all aspects of technology from startup to operations, Jay delivers successful technology solutions and achieves strategic business goals.
Prior to joining EarthLink in 2016, Jay was Chief Information Officers for American Cancer Society (ACS), a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. ACS has hundreds of local offices nationwide and a presence in more than 5,000 communities. In addition to being responsible for the people, strategy and operations of the Global Information Technology organization, Jay managed ACS’s historic transformation, including the consolidation of 12 independent divisions into one agile and focused global entity dedicated to saving more lives and curing cancer.
Jay held roles as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for AdCare Health Systems, a rapidly growing and recognized innovator in health care facility management. Jay spent the previous seven years at American International Group (AIG), most recently as VP and CIO for AIG Aerospace, a leading global aerospace insurer. Prior to that, Jay also served as CFO for Operations and Systems, leading multiple global initiatives that resulted in millions of dollars in savings.
Jay is a recognized thought leader in the Information Technology arena and is a frequent guest speaker around the world. He’s been featured in multiple publications, including Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review and CIO Magazine. Ferro is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2015 In recognition of his accomplishments, Jay was selected as Georgia CIO of the Year in both 2011 and 2015, Global CIO Breakaway Leader in 2013, and Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leader in 2015.
His commitment and dedication to community involvement is evidenced by the time and energy he contributes. In 2007, he founded the nonprofit group, Priscilla’s Promise, in honor of his late wife, which raises funds for cervical cancer education and research. In 2011 he was elected to the Board of Directors for TechBridge, an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that helps other nonprofits use technology to improve their capability to serve the community, and in 2013 was elected Board Chair.
Jay earned both his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and his Masters of Business Administration from The University of Georgia. Jay lives in the Metro Atlanta Area with his three sons: Trey, Connor and Alex.
