Dan Darling is chief information officer and senior vice president of technology production and operations for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., (TBS Inc.) In this capacity Darling is responsible for the overall management of the ten key technology divisions which are the backbone of both the broadcast delivery and systems infrastructure for the Company. 

Darling’s portfolio includes Turner’s network operations, technology services, studios and broadcast engineering functions, as well as all application development.  Turner’s Network Operations unit provides 24-hour technical and operational support for the company’s entertainment networks, including TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, Peachtree TV and truTV, as well as VOD, mobile and broadband offerings and NBA-TV and NBA-TV International. Turner Technology Services and three divisions of International Technology provide and support the company’s global information technology organization. Turner Studios is a full-service broadcast production division serving the Turner entertainment networks. CNN BEST is the broadcast engineering and systems technology division supporting CNN Worldwide’s cable and satellite television networks. Global Broadcast Technology guides technology and broadcast engineering decisions for Turner’s global technology organization. The Enterprise Application group oversees the company’s technology service centers for application development, system integration and support. Darling also oversees the production and operations of New York-based truTV, formerly known as Court TV. Collectively, these divisions encompass some 2,000 employees in Atlanta, New York, Washington, DC, London, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires

 

Prior to his current positions, Darling had served as executive vice president of Entertainment Operations for Turner Entertainment Group since 2001, where, in addition to oversight of Turner Studios, he was responsible for Network Operations, the broadcast transmission center for all of the company’s entertainment networks.

 

Formerly Vice President of Turner Studios, Darling began his career at Turner in 1985 as a senior post-production editor, garnering several Emmys for his work including the 1986 Goodwill Games in Moscow. Prior to joining Turner, Darling spent seven years doing lighting design and editing for RHM and Brass Ring Productions, worldwide.

 

Darling has been recognized by his peers with numerous industry awards such as the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences’ prestigious “Governors Award”, and its’ Silver Circle Award. He was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to the Georgia Film, Video and Music Advisory Commission where he lends his business and entertainment technology expertise to strengthen and promote the economic viability of production in the state. In 2009 he received the Atlanta Telecom Professional’s Enterprise Award. He is Chairman of the Technology Association of Georgia Board of Directors, and is a board member of the Centennial Place YMCA, and the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter.
