Brenda Holmes

Brenda Holmes 

Brenda Holmes is a partner with Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton and a member of the firm’s intellectual property group.  Ms. Holmes focuses her practice on patent strategy and analysis for international and domestic companies.  She assists clients in identifying and patenting their key innovations and building and managing their patent portfolios.  Ms. Holmes represents companies before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including patent reexamination proceedings, as well as in litigation. 

Ms. Holmes has counseled clients in a wide variety of industries, including software, telecommunications, computer systems, wireless systems, signal processing, and electronic commerce. 

Ms. Holmes was recognized as a 2008 Georgia “Super Lawyer” in Intellectual Property Law by SuperLawyers magazine and was listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Intellectual Property Law for 2011 and 2012. 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Homes was an engineer with IBM working in the areas of system development and memory controller design.

Ms. Holmes is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law.  She holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Florida Atlantic University.

Ms. Holmes is a member of the Board of WIT (Women in Technology) and is currently serving as president.  WIT’s mission is to serve as a passionate advocate for advancing women in Georgia’s technology community. 

She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, the IPO (Intellectual Property Owners) Association, and the Japan America Society of Georgia.
